Leveraging vast datasets and deep learning to model future climate scenarios, identify vulnerable regions, and forecast long-term environmental shifts.
Real-time flood forecasting, early warning systems, and risk assessment tools to minimize damage and protect communities from natural hazards.
Continuous environmental monitoring using IoT sensors and satellite imagery, providing instant alerts and actionable insights.
Transforming complex environmental data into understandable patterns and predictive models for informed decision-making.
AI-powered models to predict wildfire risk, track active fires, and optimize resource allocation for effective management and prevention.
Analyze coastal details, historical flood data, and real-time sensor readings, mapping flood zones and forecasting events up to three days ahead. This system's property-level predictions are vital, empowering individual homeowners and businesses to take specific preventative actions, like sandbagging or moving valuables, thereby reducing potential damage. By monitoring weather and sea levels, it provides early warnings, helping communities prepare and minimize flood impact.
This tool empowers users to analyze Earth observation data by allowing them to select specific datasets, like Landsat imagery, and apply various algorithms such as NDVI to assess vegetation health. Users define the analysis period with start and end dates, filter imagery by cloud coverage, and set the desired spatial scale, enabling insights from global to local levels. This approach facilitates environmental monitoring and research.
You choose the satellite data you want to analyze, like Landsat 8/9 or Sentinel-2, and then specify the types of land features you want to identify. Using powerful AI methods the tool processes the data and shows you a clear map with different land cover classes, such as forests, water, or urban areas.
Our research utilized the Google Earth Engine (GEE) Python API to classify 2017 aerial imagery of Florida's Panhandle, identifying eight LULC classes with high accuracy. This demonstrates that GEE offers a cost-effective and efficient solution for LULC analysis, making it particularly beneficial for global remote sensing projects with limited resources.
Read PublicationResearchers are using Google Earth Engine (GEE) for remote sensing due to its computational capabilities and capacity to handle large datasets. We've developed a GEE-based web tool that facilitates Spatial Multicriteria Analysis (SMA), a technique combining geographical data with value judgments for systematic decision-making. This tool is applicable to diverse projects such as risk assessment, site selection, and developing prioritization maps, allowing users to build decision models by identifying and weighting relevant factors.
Read PublicationUrbanization in Nepal has led to unplanned growth, prompting a study in Lalitpur District to identify suitable areas for urban development. Using GIS and Multi-criteria Analysis, including weighted overlay and AHP, researchers evaluated factors like proximity to infrastructure, flood sensitivity, and population density. The study categorized land into five suitability classes, highlighting the need to integrate environmental and risk factors into urban planning to preserve green spaces and water bodies for sustainable development.
